Oatmeal, Fruit, Ground Flaxseed and Cinnamon

It’s always been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Therefore, why not feed our children a healthy, hearty, nutritious meal.

Every morning, I feed my child a combination of whole grain oatmeal (contains whole grain, iron, fiber, protein), grated fruit (apples, pears, peach, plums, mashed bananas, to name a few), ground flaxseed (contains Omega 3, antioxidant, fiber, protein just to name a few), and ground cinnamon ( fiber, calcium, iron). To read more of the health benefits of each ingredient, please refer to the links provided below:

The Ingredients:

Here is how I prepare it:

I always have prepared oatmeal and fruits (you may use grated fruits so chopped up whichever way you feel comfortable feeding your child) in my refrigerator. Please refer to How to Make Oatmeal for the easy recipe.  Please keep in mind that these are rough estimates of measurements. Every child’s appetite is different. Some might consume more or less than others.

  • Add about 1/2 cup of oatmeal to the bowl.
  • Add about 1/4 cup of the grated fruit(s). Some ideas of different fruits include grated apples, combination of grated apples with grated pears, mashed banana, grated peach, et cetera.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed
  • Add about 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
